Kanye West is suing Jay-Z former label Roc-A-Fella Records and EMI April Music. According to court documents filed on Friday (January 25), West is playing “hit em up style” with Roc-A-Fella Records and Island Def Jam over his rights.

Although the docs are heavily redacted, one piece of info found amongst the legal papers obtained by The Blast details Kanye West and Jay-Z’s working relationship. It highlights that Yeezy produced , and wrote on Jay-Z ’s 2001 classic album The Blueprint . It also credits Yeezy for “helping revitalize JAY-Z’s career.”

“Kanye West wants to make it clear that this lawsuit has nothing to do with his old friend Shawn Carter” sources tell TMZ. The Hip Hop goat sold his shares of Roc-A-Fella in 2004, so Yeezy’s lawsuit is no where gina to affect Jay’s pockets.

The lawsuit filed against EMI Publishing is also heavily redacted , but is very similar to the one Kanye previously filed against The Roc.

EMI has been in charge of Kanye West publishing rights since 2003. Court documents show that “there now exists a dispute between Plaintiffs and Defendant EMI regarding the parties’ rights and obligations to one another under the EMI Contract and Extensions.”
